Post a new blog entry showcasing a modern-day invention that has solved one of Man's many problems. The size of this problem does not matter.
One of the inventions that we have choose is paper.

Paper is considered one of the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China, as the first standard paper making process was developed in China during the early 2nd century. During the Shang and Zhou dynasties of ancient China, documents were ordinarily written on bone or bamboo (on tablets or on bamboo strips sewn and rolled together into scrolls), making them very heavy and awkward to transport. The light material of silk was sometimes used, but was normally too expensive to consider. Indeed, most of the above materials were rare and costly.

Paper spread slowly outside of China; other East Asian cultures, even after seeing paper, could not figure out how to make it themselves. Instruction in the manufacturing process was required, and the Chinese were reluctant to share their secrets. The paper was thin and translucent, not like modern western paper, and thus only written on one side. Books were invented in India, of Palm leaves (where we derive the name leaf for a sheet of a book). The technology was first transferred to Korea in 604 and then imported to Japan by a Buddhist priests, around 610, where fibres (called bast) from the mulberry tree were used.

If paper has not been invented, we would still be writing on bone, bamboo or silk which is heavy and awkward to transport. Not to mention it might be expensive as pandas eat bamboos and they are one of the endangered animals. If we are using bamboo as our textbooks and workbooks, pandas might already been extinct by today.

We think that the part "...shared our ideas and got more creative ideas from books, the internet and magazines so as to get ideas for our posters and postcards. ...The infomation technology now is so advanced that we can now chat online through MSN and send emails..."
We this that it is the best part because: 1) Ideas can be found every where! Books, the internet, magazines, advertisments, photos, etc. As long as we have the 'heart' to work on the project, we can definately get ideas from some where and some how. But if we don't have the 'heart' to work on the project, we would not even think of where we should get creative ideas from. Am I right to say that? 2) Over the years, every thing around us is improving. Such as the technology, methods of teaching, medical science, etc. We should make use of everything around us. Like what I've said, we can get ideas from any where. We can also communicate with each other any where, any time! Like, we can communicate by making use of our handphones or house phones like making conference calls or like in our report, sending emails to each other and/or chatting online using MSN accounts. We're sure almost everyone have a MSN account.
We should think of different ways to get ideas or to 'get together'.

We have got some help from some non-members of our PW group. They are our PW teachers, Mrs Ganesan and Mr Yeo. They have given us ideas on how to improve our PW blogs. They have also given us ideas on how we should design our postcards and posters. We also have another non-member of our PW group who also helped us. She is our school libarian. She allowed us to use the computers in the library to do our project. She also told us where to find the books that we needed for our research.

One of the learning issues that we've choosen is : Why aren't the educational campaingns been effective?

HOW
We've discussed about it and had choosen to use this learning issue. Beacause we think that educational campaigns are suppose to be able to make youths learn.

WHY
We've choosen this learning issue because we think that when the educational campaigns can attract youths, it would be effective. (Attract youths as in not childish or lame) If it wasn't attrative, youths would not even take a look at what the campaign is about. So, the important thing of the educational campaigns must be suitable for teens and it must be attractive.

Decide on how to distribute the workload with your group members, especially when it comes to the educational materials to be designed and created.

We have to fair to everyone when it comes to distributing of workload. Example, each person is supposed to have a piece of work to do. If not, some of the group members will be doing more things than the others and it would not be fair. The person doing the most work would be very busy and the others would not have things to do and would think that the hardworking ones would do all the work and they could slack and do nothing at all.

We've designed and created 2 postcards and a poster for our project.

HOW
We can work together as a group by getting together after classes, during PW lessons or working together online in MSN as many of us have a MSN account.

WHY
We should work together as a group so that we can get work done quickly and can meet datelines. An advantage why we should work together as a group is we can bond together like during the Sec 1 camp.

It's kinda stressful.
We need to do so many things for PW.
And we still need to work on a 400 word report on our process of PW.
